GALLO, JOEY
(1929 - 1972) "Crazy Joe" Gallo. Brooklyn gangster & racketeer who worked for Carlo Gambino & was a top gunman. In the late 1940s & early 1950s, Gallo and his brothers, engaged in a mob war against the Joseph Profaci family to gain control of the Brooklyn drug racket. Gallo later continued the war against Joseph Colombo and is believed by some to have arranged the shooting of Colombo in 1970. An unknown gunman shot & killed him at a NYC restaurant on April 7, 1972. A fine mobster-related piece, his signature and inscription "To My Mouthpiece Joey Gallo" on the outside of a game board for the 1971 board game, "The ieGodfather: A game for all the families". The game board was inscribed to Gallo's dentist only months before he was shot to death in 1972. The game, housed in a mock violin case, appears to only have been played a few times and seems to have all of the requisite pieces for play. Overall very good to fine condition. A superb Mafia relic!
