G. Rossini Signed Silhouette of his Mother, Anna Gioacchino Rossini Signed Silhouette of his Mother
Gioacchino Rossini Signed Silhouette of his Mother, Anna. This small (2.5" x 3.5") silhouette is inscribed and signed, "Mia Madre A. Rossini al illustriosimmo Signore Garcia. G. Rossini." Rossini was an Italian composer who wrote over 30 operas, sacred music, and chamber music. His most recognized pieces today are "Il barbiere di Siviglia," (The Barber of Seville) and "Guillaume Tell," (William Tell Overture). One of his most beautiful works is the music for the "Stabat Mater"" a 13th century poem which chronicles the suffering of Mary after Jesus' crucifixion. This fine piece is a wonderful example of Rossini's handwriting and his devotion to his family who gave him his musical inspiration. The piece is in very fine condition; some slight staining on the whiter portion of the silhouette, otherwise extra fine.
