Forrester long nose approach putter manufactured by George Forrester in Fife, Scotland. </B></I>The dark brown or black stain and finish, neck whipping, hickory shaft and russet grip are old and probably original. George Forrester started making clubs around 1870 in Scotland, but his business didn't really start to take off until 1890 when he came up with the first of many successful patent clubs. He changed the name of his business to George Forrester and Son in 1893 when his son James joined the business <I>(Compendium of British Club Makers).</B></I> The oval lead back weight has been reduced, and the club shows moderate wear throughout. Circa 1885. Head 4 3/4" from toe to heel; 1 1/8" face; 37" shaft. Average to good. <BR><BR><B>Important notice:</B> Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour.
