a large, illustrated chromolithograph advertising the G.A.R. Nat'l Encampment / Buffalo, N.Y. - Aug. 23-27. / Low Excursion Rates Via Buffalo, Rochester, and Pittsburgh R'y, with the following added to the bottom and Lehigh Valley Railroad / Wednesday, August 25th, 1897 / By Special Train / Leaving B.R. & P. West Avenue Station at 7 A.M. / The Great Parade Day! / Fare Round Trip Only $1.25. The poster features a G.A.R. medal suspended in the center, which separates four different illustrations including a young woman embracing a Union soldier (upper left), a naval battle (lower left), a G.A.R. parade (lower right), and a Civil War battle, which depicts a Union troop charging towards the enemy. The top portion of the poster was printed by Donaldson Litho. Co., Cincinnati and London, No. 550, and the added text was printed by Vredenburg & Karle, Printers, Rochester; 27" x 47.75", laid down on board and framed, 28.25" x 48.5". 

Condition: Some folds in the poster; light toning; slight staining in spots.
