Full stocked percussion plains type rifle, approx. .38 cal., 38” octagon barrel, double set trigger, brass mountings, replaced modern wood ramrod with leather hunting bag and mold. This gun is in overall good conditionshowing a dark brown patina on metal surfaces, double set triggers working at time of description, dark bore, wood stock is in overall good condition showing a heavy patina with some old mars and scratches, an oldrepaired crack to the stock in front of the triggers and beautiful tiger striped pattern; bag is well-worn with some small tears to strap; collection tag attached to rifle states “Unmarked Perc. Fullstock rifleapprox. 38 cal., w/shooting bag & mold carried by Soloman K. Ruse from Bascom, Ohio to California in 1854”; would be interesting to further research Mr. Ruse. Est.: $450-$900.
