Full stocked percussion Kentucky style rifle, .40 cal., 39-1/2” octagon barrel, un-signed, lockplate marked “R.B.”, double set triggers, brass mounted with brass patchbox and tiger striped maple stock; gun is in overall very good conditionshowing a dark patina to metal surfaces, double set triggers working at time of description; bolster and nipple are ¼ turn forward in barrel tap hole; wood stock is good to very good with a couple old cracks and losses confined primarily to the forward end of the stock, replaced ramrod; accompanied by an old typewritten note found in the patchbox that reads “Gun from collection of Elmer Light, Shelby, Ohio. Ohio gunsmith who died about 6 years ago in late 80-90 years of age. Gun comes from the area of the Loudenville, Ohio, gun makers of late 18th century, early 19th century. Areas of acquisition is Richland County, Ohio – settled about 1780-1800. Ohio became a state in 1803 . . .”. (Antique). Est.: $650-$1,300.
