Full sidelock best-quality double rifle by George Gibbs, in original .22 Hornet caliber, 24” barrels, blue and case hardened finish, finely banknote scroll engraved, select checkered walnut stocks in trunk style casewith trade label in lid. Serial #17396. The gun remains in fine to excellent condition showing 90-95% blue on barrels. 90-95% case hardening on frame, just slightly dulling on action. The stocks are fine to nearexcellent. Triggerguard shows 95% blue thinning on the edges. The action is tight, the bores are excellent. The rifle shows full signature on locks and shows three-leaf rear sights. The partition style case is in verygood condition with some wear at contact points, small losses. The exterior of the case is fair to good with some travel wear, storage, and slight shipping damage to the outside of the case. This rifle is originalin this caliber and shows British smokeless proofs marked “.22 Hornet 45 grains” beneath breech.
