Full Set of Yankee Doodle Dandy Original Linen Lobby Cards Signed By Cagney/Leslie/DeCamp Perhaps no one with a heart can say "My mother thanks you, my father thanks you, my sister thanks you,… and I thank you" without tearing up. This is of course the catch phrase from what most considered the greatest bio-pic ever made, and on most top 100 greatest films of all time lists, "Yankee Doodle Dandy" (1942). The story of the ultimate and purest American flag waver in history, the insanely successful and talented playwright, producer, actor, dancer , singer and Broadway legend George M. Cohan, "Yankee Doodle" came out just as we were entering WW II and it hit the mark in all American's sense of love and pride of country. A staggering success in its day, "Yankee Doodle Dandy" is crafted with such brilliance and care, and peppered with such an astonishing cast, that even today, it tap dances right over all party lines, political beliefs, and ideologies. Everyone gets on their feet when Cohan sings "You're A Grand Old Flag"! Of course it was the brilliance of James Cagney that made the film work. No one was ever more perfect in a role, and his own years as a Broadway hoofer and dancer (before becoming the ultimate gangster), allowed him to completely overtake the role. So much that more people think Cagney is Cohan! Sadly Cohan died the year the film was released, however he did see some scenes, and was heard to reply: "Dear Lord, he does me better than I do!" It was also Cagney's only and much deserved Oscar win. This is an astonishing complete set of eight original 1942 studio issued Linen Stock Title Lobby Cards. The first is personally signed by James Cagney who, of course played George M. Cohan. It is also signed by Joan Leslie, who played his wife, Mary, and Rosemary DeCamp, who played his mother, Nellie Cohan. The signed lobby card has staining on the back, with a faint bleed through, and torn corners, but the autographs are in excellent condition (Cagney and Leslie's in black ink, and Rosemary's in red). All are signed next to their pictures. The additional seven have natural aging patina, and some have standard corner pin-holes. A rare fine to have a set of all eight original linen lobby cards especially with the signatures of the three main stars! All cards are 14"x11".
