Included in this lot we have a pair of frontier skinning knives and a sharpening steel rod originating from the 1800's. The first of the knives show a thin steel blade with a convex curve. The grip is made of hard wood with three brass pins. The second knife shows a thin curved single edged blade with a broken tip. The grip shows a decorated metal bolster and red stained deer antler grips. The blade is marked in faded lettering reading "Landers Frary & Clark Aetna works". The sharpening steel shows a hard wood handle and attachment ring on the pommel. The teeth on the sharpening steel still bites however is worn down with age and use. The set shows good condition overall with wear due to age. The first knife measures 16" long with a 10 3/4" blade and the second measuring 14 3/4" long with a 9" long blade with the sharpening steel measuring 19 3/4" long.
