1882-CC $10 AU58 NGC. The Mint shifted gears in 1882 from producing eagles to making half eagles (82,817 pieces) and double eagles (39,140 coins), leaving the eagle with an emission of only 6,764 examples. It appears as though most survivors of that paltry coinage entered circulation. The typical example grades only XF45 to AU50; Mint State coins are all but unobtainable. As such, the present near-Mint State coin is a real rarity, with only three pieces certified finer at both services (12/06). It is also a joy to behold, with yellow-gold and peach-gold alternating over the surfaces that display relatively few surface impairments, despite light circulation. Well struck and thoroughly delightful.
From The Twin Hollows Collection.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
