<B>1874 $3 MS61 PCGS.</B></I> This is a plentiful example (in the context of three dollar gold coins) from a mintage of 41,800 coins. It is actually the third most common date of the series behind 1854 and 1878, and it is an excellent candidate for the type collector who is only seeking a single example. Both sides have lustrous yellow-gold surfaces with subtle pink overtones. Karl Stecher, Sr. purchased this piece for $5.00 from the Guttag Bros. of New York during the 1930s.
