<B>1899 $2 1/2 PR61 Cameo PCGS.</B></I> This sharply struck and deeply mirrored specimen features richly frosted devices, and the fields show minor contact, limiting the grade to PR61. Only 150 proofs were struck, and perhaps 100 pieces still survive. Karl Stecher, Sr. purchased this piece for $7 from the Guttag Bros. of New York during the 1930s. A Guttag Bros. 2x2 paper envelope is included, with the notation: "7 1899 2 1/2 Dol Gold Proof."
