1896 $2 1/2 MS65 PCGS. The 1896 quarter eagle comes with a mintage of nearly 20,000 pieces, and is an ideal choice as a type coin. The Gem specimen in this lot radiates glowing luster, and is adorned in greenish-gold patina. A powerful strike manifests itself in sharply struck design elements. A few minor luster grazes preclude an even higher grade. Karl Stecher, Sr. purchased this piece from Joseph Barnet of Brooklyn, New York during the 1930s. Accompanied by a Joseph Barnet envelope with handwritten notes: "Unc. Price 6.50 EMD." Population: 50 in 65, 19 finer (2/07).
From The Stecher Collection.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)

Important notice:
