1858-C $2 1/2 AU53 PCGS. Variety 18-J. Richly detailed with bold original striking details and relatively modest highpoint wear for the grade. Clash marks are noted on the reverse, and both sides show a few wispy hairlines in the fields, but lack any distracting abrasions. Bits of charcoal-colored verdigris cling to some of the peripheral devices. Purchased in the 1930's at face value by Karl Stecher Sr. from coins turned in by the public as per President Roosevelt's March 9, 1933 directive. Includes a two-by-two paper envelope which reads: "1858-C gold 2.50 fine."
From The Stecher Collection.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)

Important notice:
