<B>1856-C $2.50 XF45 PCGS.</B></I> Variety 17-I. This branch mint representative has above-average detail for this issue, one notorious for its poor production values. The letters in LIBERTY are well-defined, though light wear obscures the strike quality for the rest of the coin. The luminous, granular orange-gold surfaces, while possibly off-putting for less seasoned numismatists, should be prized by Charlotte enthusiasts for their originality. Karl Stecher, Sr. purchased this piece for $4.00 during the 1930s.
