1850-D $2 1/2 AU53 PCGS. Variety 13-M. Most 1850-D quarter eagle survivors are in grades of Extremely Fine to About Uncirculated; Mint State pieces are quite rare. Yellow-gold surfaces on this AU53 specimen exhibit hints of mint-green, and contain a good amount of luster in the recesses. The strike is somewhat soft on some of the star centers and on portions of the eagle's plumage. Purchased in the 1930's at face value by Karl Stecher Sr. from coins turned in by the public as per President Roosevelt's March 9, 1933 directive. A kraft envelope noted "1850d 2.50 f+." accompanies lot.
From The Stecher Collection.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)

Important notice:
