<B>1888 G$1 MS66 PCGS.</B></I> The 1888 gold dollar is available through the mid-range of Mint State. The current Premium Gem example exhibits potent luster, and a pleasing mix of yellow-gold and peach-gold color; a small alloy spot is visible below the F of OF. Sharply struck, with impeccably preserved surfaces. Purchased in the 1930's at face value by Karl Stecher Sr. from coins turned in by the public as per President Roosevelt's March 9, 1933 directive.
