<B>1887 G$1 MS65 PCGS.</B></I> It is doubtful whether the 7,500-piece 1887 gold dollar business strikes circulated to any great extent, as most of the survivors appear to be in Mint State, and the better grades of Uncirculated at that. The Gem offered in the current lot possesses bright lustrous surfaces that exhibit yellow-gold color with accents of apricot at portions of the peripheries. Razor-sharp definition characterizes the design elements. This coin possesses fewer marks than what might be expected for the grade designation. Karl Stecher, Sr. purchased this piece from the Guttag Bros. of New York for $6.00 during the 1930s.
