1860 H10C Transitional MS65 NGC. Judd-267, R.4. These curious coins were struck "as a numismatic delicacy" as stated in the current edition of the Judd book. They are not really patterns, but have been included in pattern references over the years by tradition. The obverse is of the old With Stars design, and this is muled to the new agricultural wreath that was placed on coins beginning in 1860. Allegedly 100 coins were struck with this obverse/reverse combination. All show a die scratch from the left base of the rock. Sharply struck, the surfaces are lustrous and the centers are brilliant with significant rose and russet toning around the margins. Census: 15 in 65, 11 finer (4/07).
From The Southland Collection.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)

Important notice:</
