<B>1866-S $20 No Motto XF45 PCGS.</B></I> The last of the Type One double eagles from the San Francisco Mint, the 1866-S was struck in both No Motto and With Motto formats during the post-Civil War time when the United States elected to again recognize God on its coinage. Of the two formats, the No Motto is far more elusive; the typical example is well circulated, and there are likely only two hundred or so pieces known. The present Eliasberg example offers still-lustrous yellow-gold surfaces that meld into deep amber-gold near the rims. A few moderate abrasions on each side attest to some circulation, but none are overly distracting. This piece has never before been offered in any of the auctions of Louis E. Eliasberg's coins.<BR><I>From The Collection of Louis E.
