German poet, philosopher, and playwright (1759–1805) who had a productive relationship with Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Significant unsigned handwritten fragment of a manuscript by Friedrich Schiller, one page both sides, 8 x 1.75, no date but circa 1805. An untranslated snippet from Schiller's translation of Phaedra, originally written in French by Jean Racine, which Schiller worked on in the year of his death. In fine condition. Schiller cut the manuscript of his Phaedra into pieces and gave them away to friends and admirers—this is a very sought after and classical form of his autograph.
