French new-model 1774 musket, .69 caliber, type purchased by Ben Franklin for the state of Virginia and showing Baker type cone in barrel conversion with “for looks only” Confederate style bolster. The musket measures 60” overall with 44” barrel and shows a deep brown patina finish with scattered light to moderate erosion and surface pitting and slightly heavier pitting at firing areas. The lock markings are visible, the left side of breech is proofed “D75”. The stock shows a deep patina with some small dings, mars, dents, slight losses. The rear swivel has been removed from the triggerguard and the arm is good as original overall with correct bands and springs and a replacement ramrod of the correct style. Est: $4,000 - $8,000
