French flintlock pistol, silver mounted .58 cal., 7-1/2” barrel, raised carved wood stock in overall very good condition showing engraving to the barrel with traces of gold wash all under a dark patina with somescattered areas of erosion; lockplate is marked “Cassagnaro A Nantes”; action is good silver mounts are ornate, wood stock is very good with floral raised carving around upper tang; ramrod present; interesting note foundunder butt cap and included with this lot, dated Sept. 11, 1817 from Angostura (Trinidad and Tobago?) that reads: “Enterrado al pie de un paraquatan marcado norte dos varas en Mata Negra este del morichal”.
