<td width="100%">
A rare mid 18th French antique iron clad three key strong box. Makers mark Brevete - Magaud de Charf ? Marseille Oak frame, clad with iron plates and thicker iron strap reinforcements. Large steel rivets found on all sides. The key holes are hidden behind 3 rivets of the front side, you need to know witch one to move to use the first key , once inserted the second rivet automatically moves out leaving the second key hole available, for the second key , then you can insert the third one, finally opening the lock ?. Really safe !! it has been working since mid 18th century , and still works without troubles, this item belonged to the state of the Artist Carlos Castellanos , there are just a few all over the world, and most are located at museums.. but no one with the front decorative motif of a child drinking water from a jar , Condition is very good and fully operative ....Well no wonder , it is almost indestructible !
I attach a picture of the lock mechanism, probably the only picture of this kind of a large 18th lock mechanism , most of us will see in our lifetime , external measures are 41 inches H, 29 inches wide, and 20 inches D, Shipping this item within U.S. will cost money , but still within the usual 8% to 10 % of the total cost for any transaction .
Additional pictures available.
