This is an exotic double barrel French traveler's pistol. Both barrels are exquisitely gold inlayed at .52 cal. with percussion ignition c. 1830's. This pistol is attributed to M. Dufour of St. Etienne, France and without any markings. The barrels are 15 cm. long and the gun is 29 cm overall length. The barrels are steel with gold inlays; the stock is walnut with sterling silver wire inlays. All other hardware are steel such as the butt-plate, trigger-guard and ramrod ferrels. This fabulous pistol was made by a Master Gunsmith when viewing the silver inlay work, mortises for the trigger-guard and ramrod ferrels; all expertly inlet and mortised. A finial at the tang is exquisitely executed. The end cap is made of bone. The ramrod is present with a horn tip and some repairs may be needed. There are triggers for each barrel. At .52 cal. this gun would have been a handful to hang onto when fired; which is not recommended today although the gun is in fine working order. One feature is that the gun has lock safeties for each hammer.

This gun is an antique and no attempt has been made to fire this gun to confirm it's mechanical integrity; nor should this gun be fired. Any attempt to fire an antique gun is at the risk of the owner and not consistent with the value of the firearm. Date: Location: HWAC # 55317
