French SAMC Model Mle. 1935 A Pistol
Available for bidding on this lot is a very cool French made SACM Mle 1935-A chambered in 7.65x20mm. This firearm was manufactured by the French government in the 1930's in order to meet modern demands for auto-loading pistols, as revolvers were starting to phase out. The task of designing a new modern pistol was filled by many companies, although the SACM firm won out. The firearm had to follow strict guidelines to be considered: it had to have the same general locking system as the U.S. M1911, chambered in 7.65x20mm, manual safety on slide, be able to field strip without tools, among other guidelines. This firearm is stamped on the left side of the frame with "Mle 1935_A - F. 1691 A - S.A.C.M." The cursive F indicates this firearm was middle - late in production, believing to date to the mid 1940's. The 35_A on the underside of the magazine and the D ring attached to the frame on the left side of the grip indicates this was a surplus weapon and given to police or paramilitary units. The underside of the trigger guard is believed to be marked "CAL SI .A. VI", while the right side of the frame is subtly stamped "PA35 32LG France" both of the underside of the trigger guard and right side of the frame are very faint markings, and can be reviewed in the photos. All-in-all, this firearm is in good condition for its age, but displays marks of usage and subtle fading to the blued finish. This pistol is a curio relic and requires FFL transfer or NICS background check. Serial number: F1691A. Barrel length is 4.1", overall size is 7 5/8" long and 4 3/4" tall.
