French Provincial Longcase Walnut Clock 18th C
For your consideration is this beautiful, French Provincial longcase morbier clock constructed from light walnut from the 18th Century. This beautifully constructed French provincial longcase clock features a warm, aged light walnut construction, showing traditional Louis XV / Provincial elements, including delicately scalloped edges and an arched bonnet top. The hand-painted enamel dial features Roman numerals and delicate black markings. Above the dial, a cast brass crest with intricate scrolling and cherubic figures can be seen. The cut-out quatrefoil window in the case allows for a glimpse of the original pendulum swing, a signature feature of Comtoise clocks. This clock retains its weight-driven movement with a bell strike mechanism, housed within its wooden case. The clock shows good condition with wear consistent with its age and use over the years. Slight wobble noted when put together. No major signs of damage noted. It measures 11 1/4" L x 23 1/2" W x 100" (8.3 ft) H and weighs 120 pounds.
