French Plaster Corbel Large 19th Century Jardiniere
Unique large 19th century corbel from France doubles as a jardiniere with the open top that houses two metal rods running cross ways from which a flower pot of floral or greenery can be wedged. The rods are in place for strength and support of the plaster which is probably combined with another medium for strength. The front in form of a scroll with a shield overlay displaying crown and 3 crosses of various sizes with sprays of lilies and acanthus leaves. Decorative 5 fleur de lis panels at bottom. The sides show additional acanthus leaf decoration. Hung by means of wire wrapped around the back metal rod and attached to a couple of nails on wall.More stunning when hung correctly as opposed to the photo where it is leaning against a brick wall as does not have a flat bottom. A sheet of plywood or the like could be placed atop the rods for a base to accommodate a sculpture or the like. Great size for a statement in foyer, above a door or any wall or porch for a different accent. Excellent condition,no chips 2 very minor nicks on top,no cracks to the antique cream corbel. Measures 21H X 16D X 17.5L.
