French Perrin Era Civil War Revolver
Patented in 1859, this double action French revolver was one of the first center fire revolvers. The cylinder is unfluted and has a capacity of six rounds chambered in 11 mm Perrin. The U.S. government ordered 1,000 of these revolvers and it has been considered a secondary martial weapon. The right front of the frame is marked "PERRIN / & Cie Bte", the left side is marked with the serial number over a dot over "PARIS". The only other visible markings are the serial number on the cylinder and underside of the barrel. The ejector rod is mounted on a swivel at the breech end of the barrel and slides into the cylinder pin when not is use. The hammer is without a spur and the grips are one piece smooth walnut with an iron butt cap and lanyard ring.

Fine. Overall the revolver has a smooth bright gray patina with minor pitting. The pitting is mostly concentrated on the left side of the revolver, with a heavier concentration of pitting on the cylinder. The grip is also fine with scattered minor dings and scratches. Mechanically very fine.
