French Napoleonic style officers sword with blued and gilt blade retaining its original scabbard and in very good plus condition. There is a makers mark beneath the guard which we cannot quite make out but may be aK. and K. The blade measures 27 ¾” and the sword is 32 ½” overall. The blade measures nearly 1” at the widest part near the ricasso. The rear 9 ¼” of the blade is blued and gilted and approximately 75% remains.There is some scattered light rust and erosion but very good overall with most of its bright polish and blue. The hilt shows most of its original gold plate aging nicely and the checkered black hard wood grip scales are very good plus. The scabbard is also good to very good shows considerable gold gilt but is missing its tip. An attractive and classic French Empire sword. Est.: $1,000-$2,000.
