French MAC Modele 1935 S M1 7.65 Longue
This item is a French MAC 1935_S pistol chambered in 7.65x20mm Longue. This handgun is one of two "1935" models, one being the SACM 1935_A and this one being the 1935_S - the two handguns were part of the 1935-37 French military trials conducted by the Commission d'Experiences Techniques de Versailles, to select a new sidearm for the French Military. SACM ended up winning the bid for the French military, but as production chugged along, it became apparent that SACM could not handle the rate of production. Contracts were handed to other firms in order to fill the bill. This particular 1935_S, which is heavily based of the U.S. M1911 design was believed to be produced in 1947 when they revised the safety mechanism to match the function of the 1935_A, and started stamping them with the "M1". This particular pistol features a black oxide (blue) finish, aggressive back strap, and comfortable checkered grips. This firearm is marked on the right half of the slide with "Modele 1935 S M1- CAL. 7.65 L" underneath that on the frame is stamped "MAC-A 6709". The left half of the slide is simply stamped "M.A.C". The bottom of the magazine is stamped "1935 - S". This firearm features a 4 1/4" barrel, and measures overall 7 1/2" x 4 1/4". Overall, the pistol is in good shape but definitely displays usage wear, and some dulling to the blued finish. This Curio Relic requires FFL transfer or NICS background check. Serial Number: MAC-A 6709.
