Pair of beautiful engravings very detailed and both from famous paintings of the 18th century. "The Girl With The Tambourine" comes from England and is from Mr. Alfred A. De Pass's Collection. The artist was John Hoppner, chorister in the Royal Chapel at Windsor, fashionable portrait painter and a favorite of George III who paid for his art instruction. The young girl in the engraving is full of merriment and dressed in a beautiful gown. Light hearted and happy. The other is of Madame Le Brun, titled "Portrait of The Artist And Her Child" which hangs in the Louvre in Paris. She also was a famous portrait painter, having painted Marie Antoinette some 25 times. However, her best work were those paintings of herself such as this one. Both engravings are large sized for framing 20H X 15W and in excellent condition. Also have the same size sheet with the history behind each.
