An Exceptional French Empire Ormolu or gilt bronze and Patinated bronze blackamoor clock. French, circa: 1802-1805. Measuring: 4.75" high by 4" wide.

The clock case holds a watch movement or what is referred to as a fussee movement. In this specific case the watch also has its own case and can be removed and carried with the person or leave within the case to view.

The movement is signed "LEROY A. PARIS". The Bronze case is attributed to Jean-Simon Deverberie(1764-1824).

This Miniature clock is most curious as it depicts Blackamoor youth rather than adult. The bottom of Sienna marble shows a signature which looks to be that of "Deverberie" it is worn but some of it can still be viewed. Excellent Condition with only minor wear to corners of marble plinth and one small fleck off the enamel dial next to the key hole. The bronze work is done in the lost wax method and of superior quality.
