This large, antique porcelain dresser box features a hand-painted scene depicting the full length portraits of a couple and their dog. The work is signed "Deco" and the underside carries a blue "LS" mark flanked with blue stars, and a mark which reads "Chateau des Roses". This is possibly a work by Pierre-Leon Sazerat (1831-91) of Limoges France. Interior features hand-painted floral bouquets, and the exterior features extensive gilded decoration on a cobalt blue background. Likely dates from the mid to late nineteenth century. It measures 12.25" by 8.25" by 4.5" high (31.1 by 21.0 by 11.4 cm)
and weighs an estimated 6-7 lbs. (2.7-3.2 kg). This item resides with our client on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York and may be seen by appointment.
