A Fine Charles X ormolu or gilt bronze mounted Amboyna burl wood box. This object although very Empire and Neoclassical fall under the reign of the Charles the X period which followed directly after the Empire period. French, circa: 1815-1825. Measuring: 8.5" wide by 4.5" deep by 5.25" high.

The fine and substancial sized French box is made from Amboyna burl wood. Supported on four ormolu feet. The edges of the box are finished in an ebony trim offering a Biedermeier style design element. The front of the box is fitted with a key hole. Key is lacking. Interior of box boasts Mahogany panels.<BR><BR>

Lost wax method of bronze casting. Hand chasing and chiseling of the surface. The ormolu is Mercury gilded with both Matt finish and highly burnished areas of highlight. Gilding is original and in tact.<BR><BR>
