French made box-lock break barrel side-by-side shotgun chambered in 16 Gauge. A lack of manufacturer and importation marks leaves a lot of information unavailable. It features an approximately 26 3/4" blued barrel, dual smooth curved triggers, extractor, brass bead front sight, sliding tang safety, sling swivel on the buttstock, mid-barrel sling swivel, a 14" length-of-pull, a 65mm chamber (or roughly 2 1/2"), both bores measure 'IM' with a drop-in gauge, and a checkered and engraved top lever. The receiver displays limited coverage of floral engravings on the sides of the receiver, trigger guard, and small parts. The furniture consists of a straight buttstock with checkering at the wrist, a checkered splinter forend with an anson push button release, and a black serrated polymer buttplate. The once case hardened receiver now displays an aged grey/brown patina. Original blued finish retained on the barrel, triggerguard, and top lever is approximately 80% intact with scattered minor scratches, thinning and edge wear. The metal shows a light scattered rust. Furniture wood condition is good with wear on the checkering and some of the high points are smooth, scattered scratches and dings, and small cracks starting by the top tang. The action is smooth and crisp. Bores are bright with light to moderate pitting throughout. The pressure testing proof marks, along with the semi-smokeless powder proof marks suggest this shotgun was manufactured circa 1901-1923.
