This French oak dining set dates from the early 20th century and includes an oval dining table with two leaves and six matching chairs. Chairs are signed "Moreau" or "Moreaux". Table features a parquet design with ebony string inlay along the edges. Pedestal features a hand-hammered copper base with copper rosettes. This decorative motif is duplicated on the chairs, which appear to have been refinished. Without leaves, table measures 71.25" long, 47" wide and 30" high. With two leaves (each 24" long) the table extends to 119.25" (9 feet 11.25 inches). Leaves are not original. Includes one armchair and five side chairs, each with their original brown leather on seatbacks and with new brown leather upholstery on the seats. There is cracking and tears to the leather on the seatbacks. Chairs feature a copper florette motif on the seatbacks and mounts decorating the leg tips and tops. This set resides on the upper east side of Manhattan in New York City and may be seen by appointment.
