Frederick Remington Bronze,  The Scalp
For your consideration is this bronze casting of Frederick Remington's, "The Scalp". According to The Metropolitan Museum of Art's website, "The Scalp" was Remington's fourth bronze and his first of a Native American subject. It was copyrighted in December 1898 as "The Triumph". It is more commonly known as "The Scalp", in reference to the lock of hair that the figure astride a prancing horse bareback hold triumphantly in his right hand. On the bottom of the felted bronze is a brass tag with the title and identifying the casting as "An official issue of the Frederick Remington Art Museum © 1988 The Franklin Mint. The bronze has the Remington signature in the base. The bronze shows good condition and measures 7" L x 3 1/4" W x 7" T.
