Frederick Pabst - Phillip Best Brewing Company (Wisconsin) A 1873 dated certificate for one share issued to and signed on the verso by Frederick Pabst. The certificate shows attractive vignettes of two of the firm's brewery properties, the Empire Brewery and the South Side Brewery. Litho in black on white. The certificate is also signed as Secretary by Charles Best and as President by Emil Schandein. This firm was a forerunner of what would later become the Pabst Brewing Company. Jacob Best was among the first brewers to engage in the business in Milwaukee, establishing a plant there is 1844. His son Phillip rose to take control of the brewery by 1860, ultimately retiring in 1864. He left management of the firm to his sons-in-law, Emil Schendein and Fred Pabst. With Fred at the helm of the company Pabst rose to become the largest brewery in the world by 1900. Stocks of this caliber in significant breweries signed by important early figures in the United States beer industry are quite scarce. This is a nice opportunity to acquire an important brewing and Milwaukee item. Lightly stamp cancelled with a transfer certificate attached at left. Extremely Fine. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
