Fred Mueller was born in the mid 1860’s in St. Louis, Missouri. He opened a saddle shop in Denver, Colorado in 1891 and died in 1924. Fred sold his business in 1917. The shop continued until 1957. Mueller was one of thefirst saddle makers to stock his saddle shop with a variety of horse tack. Many of the Mueller saddles can be distinguished by the wrap around the seat under the swells. This saddle would date to the 1910-1917 and wouldhave been made by Fred Mueller. The Mueller saddles were very well built and stoop up under many years of use. The saddle is in good condition and has a 14" seat.This is from the Dale E. Moore Collection in Belgrade, Montana. Dale started and runs the Montana Horseman Saddle Building School. This piece is from his over 50 year collection of rare saddles. He started building saddlesin Helena Montana in 1964 under the guidance and direction of Jack Miller. Jack was a master saddle maker who, during his career, worked for the most famous saddle shops in the west. These
