Midwestern armed robber and contract killer during the Prohibition era (1893-1940) who is considered a prime suspect in the infamous St. Valentine's Day Massacre of 1929. Marquette Prison mailing envelope, 6.5 x 3.75, addressed in the hand of inmate Fred Burke to "Miss. Charlotte E. Crossman, 987 Pipestove St. So., Benton Harbor, Michigan," postmarked Marquette, Michigan, on December 17, 1937. In fine condition, with paper loss from opening. Accompanied by a copy of a newspaper article detailing Burke's funeral.
