Small archive related to the appearance of Margaret Melich, one of the first Western Union singing telegram girls, on Fred Allen’s radio show. Consists of two vintage glossy 8 x 10 photos of Melich and Allen at a microphone, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “For Margaret—‘I hope this is the last time you will be found in bad company’—‘Happy chanting,’ Fred Allen,” and “For Margaret—‘My favorite soprano’—Fred Allen.” Also includes a script for the show on February 7, 1940, a spiral-bound revised version of the script for the same date, and a script for the show on December 28, 1940. Affixed within the spiral-bound script are various telegrams and letters from friends and admirers sent to Melich congratulating her for her appearance. An LP featuring a recording of her appearance on the show is included as well, labeled ‘Singing Telegraph Operator.’ In overall very good to fine condition.
