Emperor Maximilian of Mexico (1832-1867) - Dinner Service (elements) The following lots present parts of a dinner service commissioned by the emperor at the Rauenstein Porcelain Manufactory. According to information received from them, the factory Friedrich Christian Greiner & Sons, through imperial officials, in 1865 received a large order for an extensive dinner service. Given the short notice and the extent of the order they subcontracted some of the work to the Limbacher Porcelain Factory. As Emperor Maximilian was shot in 1867 in Mexico, it can no longer be ascertained if the service was ever entirely completed.
