Hungarian Romantic era composer and pianist (1811–1886) whose prowess at the keyboard earned him the reputation as one of greatest virtuosos in the history of the instrument. Vintage 4.25 x 6.5 cabinet photo, signed in ink “F. Liszt.” The reverse is imprinted “Souvenir of J. Schuberth, on the celebration of the Liszt Festival Soiree, April 9th, 1870, New York.” Light toning, some spots of soiling, and some surface marks, otherwise fine condition. An unusually attractive and desirable pose. Liszt spent several years around 1870 travelling extensively to teach in Rome, Budapest and other locations, racking up over 4000 miles a year.
