Franklin Pierce Morrow was born in Ohio in 1862. Morrow moved to Sheridan, Wyoming in the early 1880’s. He sold his saddlery to Otto F. Ernst in 1913. At one time several of the prominent saddle makers such as DonKing, Rudy Mudra, and Chester Hope worked for Otto Ernst Saddlery, Which had its beginnings with Franklin Morrow. The saddle has a 14.5" seat. This saddle is from circa 1890 and shows a tooled design with greatcondition. This is from the Dale E. Moore Collection in Belgrade, Montana. Dale started and runs the Montana Horseman Saddle Building School. Thispiece is from his over 50 year collection of rare saddles. He started building saddles in Helena Montana in 1964 under the guidance and direction of Jack Miller. Jack was a master saddlemaker who, during his career, worked for the most famous saddle shops in the west. These included: Visalia Saddlery California, Garcia Saddlery Elko Nevada and Hamleys of Pendleton Oregon. Jack Miller died in 1974.
