Limited edition proof set of 50 sterling silver medals produced by the Franklin Mint, each weighing approximately 20 grams and measuring 39 mm in diameter, housed in the original "The Official History of the Olympic Games" binder. The medals honor various events from Summer and Winter Games from 1896 through 1976: on the front, they depict athletes along with the city and year; on the reverse are laurel wreaths surmounted by Olympic rings, with brief captions. Among the athletes pictured are Duke Kahanamoku, Johnny Weissmuller, Paavo Nurmi, Sonja Henie, Babe Didrikson, Jesse Owens, Bob Mathias, and Emil Zatopek. In fine condition.
