TLS as president, one page, 7 x 9, White House letterhead, August 17, 1932. FDR writes to Henry Goddard Leach, editor of The Forum magazine. In full: “Eleanor has sent me a very interesting article by Mr. P. H. Churchman of Clark University. My offhand thought is that like so many other sincere and honorable people, he believes what he reads. As an editor you will understand that I mean and the spirit in which I say it. Don’t you think it would be a grand idea if you could bring Churchman to see me in Hyde Park some time in the course of the next two months. I should love to talk with him and go over his article, sentence by sentence—I should like to have you present.” Central horizontal and vertical mailing folds, and scattered staining and soiling that lightly touches the end of his name, otherwise fine condition.
