Signed book: John De Lancaster. NY: D. & G. Bruce, 1809. Hardcover, 4.5 x 7.5, 293 pages. Signed in pencil on the inside front cover, “Franklin D. Roosevelt, 1929, a rare old novel,” and signed again on the first free end page in black ink, “Franklin D. Roosevelt, Hyde Park, very fine copy.” In good condition, with front cover detached at spine, light skipping to ink signature, several other light doodle-like notations, lower portion missing on the extremely worn spine, and some foxing and rippling to inside pages. This book, once part of FDR’s library as indicated by the Hyde Park notation, was one of a number of duplicate and/or unwanted volumes sold at either the late 1940s sale at Hyde Park or later, via his son, through Christies.
