TLS as president signed “FDR,” one page, 7 x 8.75, White House letterhead, December 31, 1943. Letter to "Polly," his favorite cousin Laura Franklin Delano, in full: "I am awfully sorry to have missed you at Hyde Park but you certainly did the right thing, and I hope you will continue to show strength of character when bed is prescribed. I hope to get home again in about three weeks if I can get these strikes really settled, once and for all, and get Congress started. I have no idea who that old Mrs. Deborah Dora Delano was. Of course, she was not a third cousin unless her husband happened to have been descended from one of the Delanos, who lived on Naskatucket Neck, whom I used to be taken to call on by Grandpapa in the old basket Victoria. I sat on the little folding seat with my back to the horses—and was sick over the side. This, of course, was before you were born. My best to you for a very Happy New Year." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
