Cogswell, in part: “In accepting your resignation, I wish to take this opportunity to express sincere appreciation of the faithful and efficient manner in which you have administered the affairs of your office. I note with interest that your thirty years of service there have been interrupted only for the two-year period you served as an officer in the American Expeditionary Forces in the first World War, where your record was marked with valor and distinction”; and a partly-printed DS as president, signed “Harry S. Truman,” one page, 16.5 x 14.25, March 26, 1946. President Truman appoints Theodore Cogswell as “Register of Wills, District of Columbia.” Signed at the conclusion by Truman, and countersigned by Thomas C. Clark as attorney general. Embossed gold seal affixed to lower left remains intact. Both are matted and framed to an overall size of 31.75 x 20.75. In overall fine condition, with a central vertical fold to the Truman document. Oversized.
